Pebble Beach, California
The design of this Mission style house
on the 14th fairway of Pebble Beach golf course was intended
as a second home for a Dallas couple and their children and grandchildren.
It is design around open and light spaces, suitable for entertaining
groups of various sizes. The major public spaces take advantage
of the spectacular views of the Pacific ocean.
The house has finely crafted details both
inside and outside. Several artisans from the area contributed
work to provide finish details that further enhance the final
design. The library especially exemplifies the craftsmanship
of the project with a fireplace surround that is bordered by
a custom tile design, handmade by artist Gary Huntoon. A hand
carved wood surround completes the fireplace and typifies the
quality of work that can be achieved with a good working relationship
between the architects and the artists.
