The Mabel Peters Caruth Center,
Headquarters for The Communities Foundation of Texas
Dallas, Texas
The Communities Foundation of Texas is
establishing a presence on North Central Expressway in Dallas
with the new Mabel Peters Caruth Center. The three project goals
are to provide a community meeting place, to provide offices
for the Foundation and to provide incubation space for new non-profit
charities as well as allied philanthropic foundations.
The 60,000 square foot building is organized
around a landscaped courtyard designed for outdoor functions.
The glass enclosed lobby separates the wing designed for community
meetings from the two-story office wing.
The split-curved copper roof design allows
morning sunlight to penetrate clerestory windows and animate
the interior rooms of the two wings. Texas limestone gives the
facade a permanence appropriate for this well-endowed financial
institution. The patinated copper panels enliven the second story
of the office wing.
